The Corpus Constantineum, the modern scholarly label for various works created under the auspices of the tenth-century Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos, continues to attract the attention of researchers. This group session aims to revisit various questions related to selected works in the Corpus Constantineum. De Administrando Imperio is examined in relation to the representation of the Late Roman and early Byzantine past (Hrvoje Gračanin), as well as to the idea of Christian Europe in the early Middle Ages from a Byzantine perspective (Alex M. Feldman). The letters of Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos, as his authentic writings, are analysed in order to define his literary style, which may prove invaluable for attempts to identify the emperor’s own authorial contribution to the Corpus Constantineum (Teuta Serreqi Jurić). An equally rich topic of research is the so-called Adriobyzantine discourse in the early medieval sources, explored through the use of specific terminology referring to the Byzantine emperor (Ivan Basić). The presentations in this group session aim to raise new questions and offer fresh insights into the study of the Corpus Constantineum. Finally, the session will also serve to present a new research project on the digitization of the De Administrando Imperio (Teuta Serreqi Jurić et al.)
