Hotel Booking
Book your hotel room online! We have special conference rates in various hotels.
Please note that reservations can only be made until 8 July, 2026.
PLEASE NOTE: we have been alerted to the fact, that companies going by the name Global Travel, EHS Exhibitor Housing Services and EHM Exhibitor Housing Management, Expo Housing Services, Docu Sign, BTravel – and maybe others – are making telephone calls indicating that they are “from the congress organizers” and claiming that they have a special hotel deal or that something is wrong with your hotel booking for the conference. Please IGNORE these calls (and/or emails) and DO NOT PROVIDE credit card details. We do not forward any contact details to third parties. These agencies DO NOT have access to information on hotel bookings you make with us (University of Vienna). They are accessing public congress information and searching contact details through search engines like Google. The Event Management of the University of Vienna is the only official housing agency for 25th International Congress of Byzantine Studies in Vienna. If you are unsure about the status of your booking, or you have any other questions please call us (0043-1-4277 17677) or let us know by email ().
Lodging Assistance for Monastic Presenters
The Benedictine Abbey of Our Lady of the Scots (the so-called Schottenstift) in the heart of Old Vienna and very close to the congress venue has graciously offered several rooms free of charge to male and female monastics of any Christian church who will be attending the ICBS 2026 in Vienna as presenters and who are in financial need in order to attend the Congress. These rooms are all located within the monastery complex (Freyung 6, 1010 Vienna) and include breakfast each morning (available with the monks of the Schottenstift after morning prayer). A total of ten (10) rooms are available to monks and/or nuns within the internal monastic guesthouse; a further four (4) rooms are available to monks only within the monastic enclosure (clausura).
Any interested monastics whose paper abstracts have been accepted to the Congress should contact us at the following e-mail address:
Please be sure to include the following in your e-mail: (i) name; (ii) monastic order / church affiliation; (iii) language competency (English/German/other as applicable); (iv) title of your presentation, and (v) any other information you deem important.
If the number of interested persons exceeds the rooms available, a choice will be made amongst the applicants by Abbot Nikolaus Poch OSB and the brotherhood of the Schottenstift.
