Plethon’s “Academy at Mystras”: A Reappraisal

What was the involvement of Georgios Gemistos Plethon in education at Mystra? The paper intends to shed some light on this important issue, which had earlier been the arena of "romantic" and/or ideologically biased schemas including "Plethon's Academy" at Mystra which was supposed to operate during the first half of the 15th century. The paper examines the identity of Plethon's pupils and the importance of his circle in order to provide a much-needed reappraisal.
