Secondary Early Christian Figures in Late Antique Historians

This contribution offers an overview of the manner in which the works of church historians of the late antiquity and beyond reflect early Christian figures that are connected in some way to main apostolic figures. As such, by focusing on Eusebius of Caesarea, Jerome of Stridon among others – and, for a later view on the same characters, on Photius I of Constantinople – this paper maps out how such characters are introduced, described and set in relation to one another, to the apostles they are related to, and to the literary works they are the main character, as well as those they are thought to have written.
